As we look to the future, we must recognize the United States’ strength in innovation & scientific discovery is built on a foundation of basic research. For over 70 years, our country has driven global innovation, expanding the frontiers of knowledge & making groundbreaking advancements in fields like physics, biology, & computer science. From the laser to mRNA vaccines, our research has led to technologies that have transformed our world. Now, we're on the cusp of a new era of discovery, with AI poised to revolutionize every scientific discipline.
Unfortunately, our research infrastructure is eroding. Our laboratories and facilities are aging, & our funding is not keeping pace with maintenance needs. It is time to make the investments necessary to keep America at the forefront of innovation. It is time to prioritize federal funding for basic research & upgrade our lab facilities to ensure America can continue to push the boundaries of the possible.
