For more than four decades, the Council on Competitiveness has been defined and strengthened by its remarkable members and leaders. This tradition continues with the election of J. Erik Fyrwald, CEO of International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), as Chair of the Council. Erik brings decades of leadership in science-driven innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships—experience that will be invaluable as the Council advances its mission to strengthen U.S. competitiveness.
Beyond this exciting leadership transition, this month the Council also launched Phase Two of the U.S.–Australia Strategic Innovation Alliance, co-hosted a Sydney-based Innovation Dialogue, and saw Council President and CEO Deborah Wince-Smith deliver a keynote at Brazil’s 7th Technology Showcase, engaging with more than 5,000 business, government, and academic leaders. Looking ahead, we are preparing for major events this fall in Lafayette, IN, Pittsburgh, PA, and of course, the 2025 National Competitiveness Forum in Washington, D.C.
