From April 29–30, 2026, the Council on Competitiveness held the twelfth installment of its "Competitiveness Conversations Across America" series, under the auspices of the National Commission on Innovation and Competitiveness Frontiers. Hosted at the Durham Museum in Omaha, Nebraska, in partnership with the University of Nebraska System, this event, "Competitiveness Conversation: Nebraska – Leading the New Frontier in the Global Bioeconomy," brought together leaders in industry, academia, government, agriculture, the national laboratory enterprise, and more to explore the dynamics of Nebraska's and the broader Midwest's innovation ecosystem and the state's role in accelerating U.S. leadership in the bioeconomy.
This crucial dialogue was hosted by Dr. Jeffrey P. Gold, President of the University of Nebraska System and a member of the Council's Executive Committee, along with Council on Competitiveness President and CEO Deborah Wince-Smith.
