
Bill Lin is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Associate Dean for Research in the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California San Diego, where he holds the Jacobs Fellowship and is a Hellman Fellow. He was the Department Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department for 5 years from 2019-2024. He then became the Associate Dean for Strategic Programs and is currently the Associate Dean for Research, both for the Jacobs School of Engineering. He is a Principal Investigator at the Center for Wireless Communications and the Center for Networked Systems at UC San Diego in industry-sponsored research efforts. He is a co-inventor on 6 awarded patents and a co-author more than 250 archival publications in premier IEEE and ACM venues. He has served as the General Chair of several premier IEEE and ACM conferences, and has served as an Associate Editor or a Guest Editor for several premier IEEE and ACM journals. He received his BS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
