Birol Ozturk is an Associate Professor and Interim Chair in the Physics and Engineering Physics Department at Morgan State University (MSU). He is also the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Quantum Sensor Technologies, LLC (dba. www.qdsense.com). He holds a Ph.D. in Photonics from Oklahoma State University. After working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Syracuse and Northeastern Universities, he joined MSU in 2014 as an Assistant Professor. His current research interests are focused on quantum sensing with defects in wide band gap semiconductors. His team developed world’s smallest diamond based handheld quantum magnetometer. Another prototype for brain imaging is also under development.
