Senator Lent is a native of Southeastern Idaho and grew up in Shelley. He is a graduate of Eastern Idaho Technical College and Idaho State University. Senator Lent worked for nearly forty years in the nuclear industry and received recognition from the Department of Energy for Distinguished Leadership, regulatory reform, and cost-cutting initiatives. He retired as the site-wide Training Manager for Fluor Idaho at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), Additionally, he served twelve years on the Idaho Falls School Board and played a key role in replacing four elementary schools and transitioning a junior high into a successful project-based high school. Senator Lent was recently reelected to his fourth term in the Idaho Senate, where he serves as Chairman of the Education Committee and a member of the Joint Finance Appropriations Committee (JFAC).
