Dr. S. Jack Hu began his service as UC Riverside’s tenth chancellor in July 2025. A distinguished scholar and a member of the National Academy of Engineering, he holds 10 U.S. patents and has published nearly 200 journal articles. He was previously senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Georgia and vice president for research at the University of Michigan. A first-generation college student, Dr. Hu earned his bachelor’s degree from Tianjin University and his master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
