Dr. Kofi Nyarko is a tenured Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Morgan State University, where he also serves as the Director of the Center of Equitable Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Systems (CEAMLS). Additionally, Dr. Nyarko leads the Data Engineering and Predictive Analytics (DEPA) Research Lab. His research expertise spans computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI, focusing on automating and deriving insights from complex data-driven systems. His innovative work includes applications in unmanned aerial and ground vehicles for tasks such as remote sensing, automated navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management. Beyond his technical contributions, Dr. Nyarko’s work addresses the defensive and offensive aspects of cybersecurity for Internet of Things platforms, employing responsible, equitable, and trustworthy AI methods. His efforts have earned him the US Black Engineer HBCU STEM Innovation Award in 2020, recognizing his significant contributions to innovation and economic development at Morgan State University. Dr. Nyarko is an inventor holding three United States patents in visible light communication and particle swarm optimization. He is a respected speaker and consultant, frequently participating in technical forums on machine learning and software engineering.
