Dr. Scott Holcombe is the Vice President of Engineering at Lightbridge Corporation, an advanced nuclear fuel development company based in Reston, Virginia, where he leads Lightbridge’s engineering team in research, development, and demonstration activities required to commercialize the company’s proprietary nuclear fuel technologies. Dr. Holcombe has over 20 years of experience in the nuclear industry, beginning his career as a nuclear fuel engineer at Tennessee Valley Authority and later at Westinghouse in Västerås, Sweden. He subsequently spent over 10 years at the Institute for Energy Technology in Halden, Norway where he began as a researcher and later held various management positions, including Manager of the Halden Reactor Project, a joint international nuclear safety research program conducted under the auspices of the OECD – Nuclear Energy Agency. Prior to joining Lightbridge, Dr. Holcombe managed the Fuel Development, Performance, and Qualification Department at Idaho National Laboratory. Dr. Holcombe holds a PhD in Physics, with specialization in applied nuclear physics, from Uppsala University, in Uppsala, Sweden.
