To remain competitive in the next economy, the United States must expand its innovation footprint, and there is a growing urgency to capitalize on the untapped talent, technology, and infrastructure across America.
Under the auspices of the National Commission on Innovation and Competitiveness Frontiers, the Council on Competitiveness has launched a “Competitiveness Conversations Across America” series of regional summits and fora in all corners of the United States to uncover local best practices for growing innovation capacity and capability, and to elevate and deploy these practices to national attention.
On May 5-6, the Council and its community came together at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center for two engaging days focused on the future of innovation security in New Mexico and across the United States.
The summit gathered innovation leaders from industry, academia, national laboratories, and government to explore the pressing challenges and opportunities that will drive New Mexico's prominence as a leader in energy, AI, cybersecurity, space, and other innovation-driven sectors that underpin U.S. national security. Through lively panel discussions and keynotes, attendees examined the pillars of New Mexico's innovation economy — including talent, technology, investment, and infrastructure — and helped set an agenda for the state's competitiveness and future success.
