To remain competitive in the next economy, the United States must expand its innovation footprint, and there is a growing urgency to capitalize on the untapped talent, technology, and infrastructure across America.
Under the auspices of the National Commission on Innovation and Competitiveness Frontiers, the Council on Competitiveness has launched its “Competitiveness Conversations Across America” leadership series: a set of regional summits and fora in all corners of the United States to uncover local best practices in amplifying innovation capacity and capability, and to elevate and deploy these practices to national attention.
A Competitiveness Conversation: New England — Growing the Future with Blue and Green Tech
Join us June 5-6 at the Joyce Cummings Center at Tufts University in Medford, MA, for two engaging days focused on the future of the blue (i.e., maritime) and green (i.e., efficient, sustainable) economies in New England and beyond. Connect with innovation leaders from industry, academia, the national laboratories, labor, and government to address the pressing challenges and explore the tremendous opportunities for building a sustainable and prosperous economy on land and sea.
The summit will include sessions and keynotes focused on growing innovation capacity and capability in New England and the impact that doing so will have on the region and the United States. Discussions will explore advancements in energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture, modern fishing practices, offshore wind, financing large-scale and high-risk projects, and other critical topics related to New England’s leadership in these two vital sectors of the U.S. economy. We will also examine the convergence of the blue and green economies, strategies for commercializing next-generation technologies, and best practices for cultivating a skilled workforce ready to meet the needs of these high-tech sectors.
This is your opportunity to influence a regional and national discussion on advancing U.S. leadership in the blue and green economies. Additionally, by amplifying the best practices and emerging strategies identified in New England, this Competitiveness Conversation will help strengthen the broader U.S. innovation ecosystem.
